The Reading Scholarship Foundation Inc., was founded in 1969 by a group of local business and community leaders. Its purpose is to encourage qualified students to seek education beyond the secondary school level, and to provide financial assistance, with emphasis on need, to a limited number of such students through the granting of scholarships at the undergraduate level. To this day, the Board of Directors continues to consist of all volunteers.
